Executive Decision [Jan. 28th, 2009|11:42 am]

[mood |coldcold]

I called off today, given the horrific snow/ice pictured in nycciangel's LJ. I missed monday for illness, so I probably *should* have fought my way in but damn. I went to get my boss' # out of my car and it's a brick of ice, with snow up to the level of the car floor. Not gonna happen.

I will instead probably be working all through the weekend, until the game. While I have financially and emotionally accepted the Steelers victory, I hope to be surprised. It worked last year.

WoW help for anyone who knows more about PCs than me [Nov. 18th, 2008|11:32 pm]

So I installed Lich King on friday, and now I can not play more than 5-7 minutes of WoW before it locks up. I can not window button out of it nor can I ctl alt delete. I have to turn the power off on the laptop. It feels very very hot underneath, and I've built a little stand for it to sit on so it's not flat on the table. However it still shuts down very quickly once I start playing it. It happens regardless of server. Nothing else makes it do this, no amount of other programs running causes the shutdown. It did not happen despite hours of play prior to the LK install. I have pulled all of WoW off and re-installed all of it, and it still happens.

Does anyone else know what can be done? I don't know why LK would do this, given that I'm not even running any of the exciting LK content yet.

So the weekend was lazy, which was good I think. A small simple Requiem game due to weather and then Lost. I really need to ghost fight some other Lost beaters to see if I'm even close to stacking up. I feel like I'm coming up short and don't want to get tooled by like a bunch of darklings or something.

Watched Michael Clayton and American Gangster last night. Both are awesome. MC in particular I thought was good and most people I think might enjoy it. AG is great drama but gangster epics aren't for everyone.

I'll be leaving on my half day in about an hour with several errands to run but will be home later.

Deadpool to be in the Wolverine movie. Awesome.

I'm not sure about the Sabretooth casting though.

Who said cheaters don't prosper? [Feb. 8th, 2008|02:12 pm]

Did you know a 1d10 can generate a negative #? I didn't.

My membership has about 6 weeks left on it, which I will use to determine if it's worthwhile to buy another year in the hopes that a new NST will help repair the various venues, but that's awfully optimistic. I had originally thought to hold out for reset, but a reset can't change the structural problems that allow for the kind of unethical favoritism that works so well for regional+ officers.

I hope everyone keeps in touch, I know I'll certainly try to. But I doubt it.

Well off it goes. Here's to hoping we dodge a paradox worthy of a Dr. Who episode.

Based on a recent commercial we play around here a lot. Just designate a leader-style PC and then a different PC for each BLANK:

<LEADER>: Everyone the <plot contrivance/killbox/convention> is almost upon us. We need to be ready.

<BLANK> you keep feeding me bad and out of date information.
<BLANK> I need you to keep not living up to your character sheet.
<BLANK> you're in charge of dual-covenant waffling.

<Response>: Are you sure?

<BLANK> I want you to keep talking a big game, then do nothing.

<Response>: Let's do this!

<BLANK> can you fold under pressure for me?

<Response>: Like a lawn chair.

and <BLANK> just keep thinking everyone is out to get you.

<Response>: They are.

<LEADER>: Great. I'll be at the bar where I can get drunk and avoid stupid people.

ICC [Jan. 9th, 2008|01:48 pm]

So who's actually going to ICC? I'm considering breaking my earlier rule about avoiding GotM and going to a few so that I do not need ICC xp and making ICC a social visit for drinking and socializing. However that plan only works when other people go. Also if you know other awesome people who may not be LJ ninjas mention them too and feel free to email me if you don't want to state such things in open LJ.

Out of Touch [Dec. 21st, 2007|10:09 am]

[mood |optimisticoptimistic]

Okay gang I'm off the grid for awhile. I'll be engaging in the ancient holiday tradition of visiting in-laws. I may get phone service I may not. I may get email/LJ access I may not. I won't mind being contacted, but if I don't answer until sunday that's why.

In other news: Some guy I have never heard of much less met told me that he was sorry to hear about Rip will miss his contributions to chronicle.

Boo-yah.
